Day 18 – Assignment: Moving furniture.
I am posting day 18 a little later in the day than usual. Today is January 18. It’s Saturday, it’s moving day for my office and it also happens to be the day my favorite college basketball team, University of Kansas, played another very good team, Oklahoma State.
My husband and I invited some great friends over for the game. (They are also Jayhawk fans!) Just in case you didn’t watch the game, WE WON! Rock Chalk!! Such a great time with friends I love but don’t get to see as much as I would like.
Shortly before my friends left, a couple of teenage guys showed up at our house to hang out with my son. Well now, isn’t that conveeeeeenient? (To quote The Church Lady.)
Soon the guys and my husband were hauling furniture for me. I had an antique cedar chest under my big desk. It is so special to me. It is my great grandmother’s hope chest. My office was formerly the guest room. I have kept the chest in the office since then because I didn’t have another space for it. I absolutely love it. My parents had it restored and gave it to me several years ago.
Here they go! My husband, Jimmy in the hat, Austin is standing and Caleb is the one making the goofball face. My son, Nathan, not pictured. How exactly did he get out of doing this?
Down the stairs. This thing is heavy!
The guys moved the chest to the master bedroom. Looks like Nathan finally showed up. I am guessing his job was to harass the guys doing the work. Nice face again, Caleb.
One thing I want in my office is a comfy chair where I can sit and work on my laptop sometimes. We have a chair in our basement that we don’t really need there. The guys were thrilled to move this all the way upstairs.
Up the stairs…
The empty corner of the office is just begging for a comfy chair. I am excited.
The moral of the story is watch basketball, wait for teenage guys to show up and then put them to work. Easiest 20 minutes of the 31 days.
P.S. I did feed them some cookies for their help.
