Day 25 – Assignment: Shop for trash can, recycle bin, and saucepan lid holder (?)
Another day, another skirmish avoided. Make sure you check out Day 24 for all the details. By the way, I got the moves like Jagger.
Tracy gave me a short list and told me to go shopping. I was to get a trash can, a recycle container and a saucepan lid holder. Whoa, I grew up watching enough Sesame Street to know that one of these things just doesn’t belong here, tell me can you guess which one?
However, after yesterday I have learned to take Tracy’s advice so I didn’t question the lid holder. Off to shop.
In addition to Target, I am in love with TJ Maxx. Admittedly, I am a Maxinista as they say. I don’t really get clothes there. It’s more about the home decor section. Name brands at discount prices. Mmmm. Me likey. Not all stores are alike. The store near my house is my fav in the area.
First, I found a basket that would be the perfect recycle container at TJ Maxx for $7.99.
I put it in my office and put it to use.
Next, I found the pot lid holder at TJ Maxx for $9.99.
Still wondering what we will use this for? Read on!
I went to Target for the trash can. There are a lot of fancy trash cans around but I needed basic and not too big. I chose this one because it was slim and it would hold trash. $3.99. The latter of the two reasons would be rather important. Duh.
Side note. Again. Does anyone else get overwhelmed by garbage can options? Do I go cute? Do I go super practical? Lid that flips open when you step on lever thing? Lid that has the middle part that swings open when you push on it? Stainless steal? Colors? Square? Oval? Help! I just want to throw my gum and granola bar wrappers in this thing. Seriously.
I’m back from that little tangent. I showed you the trash can I decided on, the recycle basket and the pot lid rack. Below is how Tracy advised me to use the rack. Can you hear the drum roll?
Tracy says use it on my bookshelf. The photo above is the side view.
The lid rack holds my binders, notebooks, page protectors and folders upright so I know what I have at a glance. Perfect. It was under $10. It’s sturdy and it fits nicely on the bookcase shelf. Good idea, Tracy.
It might be a slow day for you if a pot lid reveal is exciting. FYI.
It was helpful for me not to have a lot of items on my shopping list. I felt a feeling of accomplishment when I returned home with all the items checked off my list. I still had a little time to wander the aisles too. 🙂
I hope you are getting a few tips for a space in your home that needs a little order. Keep checking back. We are glad to have along for this project! Do you have any unique ways of using items for organizing? Leave a comment below. We would love to hear them!
