Do the holidays bring peace, joy and overnight guests to your home?
I can’t remember a Christmas when we haven’t had at least one guest in our basement. If overnight guests are heading your direction, here are some tips that will help you be prepared so you can enjoy their visit.
Is the guest bed made up? If not, wash the sheets and dress the bed(s). Add an extra blanket to the end of the bed, just in case it’s needed.
Test the air mattress. Inflate it today and check it tomorrow.
Clear off the surfaces of the nightstands and the dresser. In other words, declutter the guest room or space. Do this without stashing the clutter somewhere else. You won’t find that stuff until the New Year and then you will regret it. Find homes for things and toss the trash or recycle/donate items.
Make room in the closet and free up space in one dresser drawer, if possible. Gather up a few empty hangers for the closet.
Do you have clean towels available? Set these on a shelf, in a container in the bathroom or at the end of the bed.
Extra toiletries in the bathroom are a nice touch. We all forget to bring something or other. Leave a small basket by the sink or on the dresser.
Check your supply of toilet paper and Kleenex. Does the bathroom need replenishing?
Plug in night lights so your guests don’t have to stumble around in the dark.
Relax, at least your guest bedroom is ready for guests, even if you are not.
