While talking with Dana White, from A Slob Comes Clean, for our garage sale show, we got a glimpse into what life was like for her. She admits she loved garage sales, shopped at them often, started selling her bargains on ebay to make money and soon had a house filled with “great deals” – better known as clutter. She had an entire room filled with just clutter. An entire room that her kids could have been using and enjoying that was filled with her clutter. It was out of control.
Have you ever grieved about the state of your home? About the clutter, messy, claustrophobic state of it and your inability to make it better? No matter how hard you try you can’t seem to get things under control? Do you grieve about the legacy you are leaving, the things you are missing out on, the peace you could be experiencing?
Dana had. She shares openly how she grieved about this very things and then one Sunday in church, in 2009, she had the idea to write about her struggles in a blog. At first she wrote anonymously. Later she “came clean” and now signs her name “Nony” short for anonymous.
If you have felt this, are in a state of desperation, need some answers or at least someone who knows your pain then visit Dana’s blog, watch her videos and enjoy her transparent journey.
“Where to start?” you wonder. You’ve probably tried to start many times! Dana suggests (and we do, too, using our affiliate link!) reading her eBook Drowning in Clutter – Don’t Grab a Floatie! Drain the Ocean! She says, “Decluttering can be gut-wrenching, heart-breaking, and physically exhausting. But worth it!” She knows because she has been doing it for three years.
Dana offers hope, decluttering strategies and specifics how-tos like how to make large numbers of difficult decluttering decisions in the shortest time possible. For example, instead of a long list of questions to ask when deciding if she should keep or donate an item she uses only TWO. She told us we could share the first question…
If I needed this item, where would I look for it?
