We are kicking off our 31 Days of Top 10 Lists with a list of 10 of our Favorite Things…at least for the moment. The pictures below are linked. Click on them if you want to see more. Please let us know one of your favorite things in the comments below.
10. CoverGirl Liquiline Blast Eyeliner
I (Tracy) love this eyeliner because of how easy and smooth it goes on! It feels like liquid but doesn’t require the application skill that a liquid liner does.
Tracy’s Tip: Someone told me that if you are wearing the same eyeliner you did 10 years ago you need to change things up a bit. Although I normally wear Liquiline Brown Blaze, this month I purchased Silver Spark and wore it a couple of times. I really liked it! I felt hip and trendy even though my daugters said, “Whoa, Mom, what eyeliner are you wearing?”
9. Melaleuca Oil
Melaleuca oil is an essential that is a safe, all-natural antiseptic and solvent not available in stores. My (Chelle’s) family uses it for everything from relieving the itch of bug bites or poison ivy to relieving the pain of minor cuts and scrapes, even canker sores. As a solvent it removed permanent marker from the leather chair of an extended family member who was skeptical to try it. It really has a wide range of uses.
My brother-in-law commonly refers to it by his favorite Saturday Night Live slogan, “It’s a dessert topping; it’s a floor wax! No, it’s a dessert topping and a floor wax!”
Melaleuca oil is not available in stores. Purchase from an authorized Melaleuca representative. You can save on the price if you become a Melaleuca Member. They carry a complete line of all-natural products.
This would have made my list for Day 2’s Household Secrets if I hadn’t mentioned it on this list!
8. The Paper Mate Gel 0.5 Pen
I (Tracy) love writing and want a pen that feels good when I write. My favorite pen (really, a marker) has always been the Paper Mate Flair. I used to take the most beautiful notes, writing in a different color each day and changing colors depending on the topic. But, while working with a client one day I was given a box of these wonderful gems. The more I wrote with the Paper Mate Gel the more I loved how thin and clean it wrote. Now I become a little protective when someone wants to borrow my pen.
7. McDonald’s Mango Pineapple Smoothie
This is my (Chelle’s) favorite drive thru treat. I’ve tried to make my own homemade version but it doesn’t compare. I buy a small. It’s only 200 calories. Delicious!
6. Surface Bassu Hydrating Oil
My (Chelle’s) hairstylist uses this hydrating oil in my hair before and after a blow dry. It tames frizz and makes hair less dry. My hair is fine, but I do have a decent amount of hair. Just a little goes a long way! Don’t overdo it.
5. Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish
I (Tracy) never paint my nails because within 24 hours the polish chips off. I don’t really want to spend the money at the salon either even though I LOVE the look of gel polish. So when I heard about Sally Hansen’s new Miracle Gel I ran to the store to purchase it. The only color Wal-Mart had left was #240 B Girl. Check out the color (and follow us) on Instagram @ClutterInterrupted.
Tracy’s Tips: It may require 3 coats of color to look non-streaky and thick like the gel in the salon. I am very hard on my nails. After 3 days one of my pinky nails had a small chip. On day 5 I reapplied one coat of color and another top coat. I’ve received tons of compliments on the color and people thought my nails were done at a salon. My girls both used 3 coats and it looks perfect on their nails. (I am going to try the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy too and will let you know which I like better. Let me know if you have tried either.) Having my nails painted is definitely one of my favorite things at this very moment.
4. BKE Culture Skinny Jeans
I (Chelle) love these skinny jeans for my, “over 40” body. They are curvy fit, mid rise and have big back pockets. By the way, if the picture below were my lower body I’d be walking around all day in bikini bottoms and skip the jeans.
3. Rokkit™ Fitflop in Silver Nova
I (Tracy) need shoes with cushion and support. I bought a pair of black Fitflops 4 years ago and have worn them almost every single summer day since! This summer I thought it was about time to get a new pair. I am kinda in LOVE with everything gray and silver, too, (nail polish, walls, clothes, eyliner) so I purchased these Silver Nova Rokkit Fitflops.
I get a ton of compliments on this pair but more than that they are super comfortable. I could walk all day in them. Read about their technology here. Be sure to check out Nordstrom’s Rack if you have one near you (I didn’t see any cute ones online) and also DSW for the best price on Fitflops.
2. Oral-B Glide Floss Picks
Hands down this is one of the favorite things in the whole world for both of us! We discussed our groovy teeth and our need to carry dental tools wherever we go in this article. (We’re still awaiting a Pulitzer prize nomination for our outstanding literary work in dental hygiene.) We could not live without these picks. Oral-B is our favorite brand. We carry them in our purse and our cars and have them in our houses. We heart floss picks!
Can’t find a clip or bobby pin? Use your floss pick! Stylish, eh? It kept my hair up for two hours!!
1. Clean eating protein “power” bar for skeptics and die-hard’s alike
Our all time favorite, healthy snack is this Clean-Eating Protein “Power” Bar. Easy to make. Takes care of all cravings. Very satisfying and filling when you drink a glass of water while eating it. Delicious. Vegan. Gluten free. Whole food. Yum.
Bonus tip: After eating you must use our Favorite Thing #2…in your teeth, not your hair.
There you have our Top 10 Favorite Things, for the moment. Unfortunately, you aren’t going to see elves coming from all directions bringing you free gifts of our favorite things. If you are seeing elves, seek medical attention. Tracy is not the professional you need.
What is one of your favorite things? Pleeeaase share!
