Week 3 of My Budget Friendly Friday series! Thank you for being my accountability for my new budgeting system. I am happy to say I have been sticking to my cash kitty for all my expenses! Yay, me!
This week there were two expenses I covered that were not paid with cash. We have been planning for these.
I also had some unexpected treats that helped me along.
The first planned expense was neutering our puppy, Melvin. Sorry, Mel. It was for your own good. He came through it all just fine! 🙂
The second was my hair cut and color. We budget for this ahead. If mama ain’t happy, nobody’s happy–especially when grey hairs aren’t covered.
We have budgeted for hair. Hooray! We haven’t budgeted for pedicures and manicures. Awww Man! BUT…this week my mom came in town for a quick visit. Before she arrived she texted me and asked if I wanted to make an appointment for us to get our nails done together. Uhhh ya! She treated me to a relaxing Angel Nails visit. Thanks, Mom for the unexpected treat!
The first part of the title of this post is, LOOK AWAY!! Simply stay out of the stores if possible. This goes for the grocery store, superstores, clothing stores…if I’m not there, I can’t spend money. Staying away and not looking at the shelves or racks is very helpful. This has been my biggest weapon against budget busters. Avoid the temptation.
Another less-used and last minute weapon of mine is GO AWAY!! I went back to my home town to watch my niece play volleyball. I stayed overnight with my parents. Free bed and free homemade food. Noooo spendie.
Another budget saver…leftover Ham and Potato Casserole and a big piece of Wacky Cake from my mom made the trip back to Kansas City. Free and easy dinner for my guys. Yay, me again!
What are some ways you avoid the temptation to blow the budget? I would love to hear from you!
