Here is the Duffy family. What a GREAT family!!! Listen to the show and hear some insider secrets from Chris Duffy!
Here is the Duffy’s storage closet after we organized it!
Notice the bins are all labeled with big, colorful label tape. Everything is stored in zones – memory tubs on the left, kitchen supplies on back left metal shelf, Christmas boxes by Santa and on right side shelves there are other holiday tubs, outdoor gear, etc.
The table in the center is dual purpose. First, it can be used for craft projects and for the kids to have some fun. It is also the staging area where things get put before getting put away!
The next project…The guest room closet (aka: supply closet!)
In the middle of your organizing project the space should be empty! Pull everything out while sorting like with like. Once it is ALL out…
- Clean the space.
- Purge the piles you sorted.
- Define a purpose for the space and plan how and what you want to put back in. Chris wanted this guest room closet to have space for guests to use and have school supplies and a wrapping station.
- Put things back in and label!
The Supply Closet now has a wrapping station and the shelves have labeled bins with school supplies. Now, when the kids need supplies they “shop” down here before they go to the store!
What is one area you can begin to sort? Schedule a time on your calendar THIS week to begin. Set your timer and do as much as you can in the time you have!
