Have you ever had leftover avocado that you tried to store in your refrigerator to eat the next day only to find brown, unappetizing mush?? I just started eating a whole avocado to avoid this problem. Until, last Christmas when my brother was in town and shared this tip:
Press your plastic wrap over the surface area of the avocado. This keeps the air from touching it and turning it brown (or whatever the scientific process is). It works!!!
Just the other day I used this tip, pressed the plastic cling wrap all over the avocado and put the lid on the container (although you don’t need to use a lid).
The next day I peeled off the plastic and this is what I saw! Yummm!
Now I can eat half an avocado and save the rest for later…
No need for more clutter and fancy contraptions in your house!
I love buying my avocados at Sam’s Club. I buy the bag of 5. I set them on the counter in a basket for a few days and they always turn out PERFECT! Nothing is more beautiful than cutting the avocado in half and seeing that perfect green color.
But, sometimes I will buy them at Aldi or Wal-Mart in order to save money. More times than not they are small and often have brown spots inside. The disappointment takes my breath away.
Today I ran across a site that teaches how to find the perfect avocado. Read Erica’s instructions here. I can’t wait to try it!
