Do you ever avoid doing a task because it is too overwhelming?
Have you ever had conversations with yourself about how you DO NOT want to do this task?
In your mind have you determined the project is much bigger than it really is?
You keep walking past it and NOT doing it.
TIME YOURSELF doing the task.
Mindy Starns Clark, author of The House That Cleans Itself, mentions here in our interview with her that she would avoid emptying her dishwasher. She was just sure it took 30 minutes to do this dreaded chore.
Until…she timed herself.
It took 4 1/2 minutes. NOT 30. Just 4 1/2.
That was the same amount of time that it took her to microwave a Stouffer’s Frozen Dinner. It might be the same amount of time it takes you to make a pot of coffee. Unload your dishwasher while you brew your coffee or cook your dinner.
arguments conversations with yourself about one of your dreaded tasks. Get out your timer and time yourself.
How long does it take you to clean a toilet?
How long does it take you to mop the floor?
How long does it take you to organize a drawer?
How long does it take you to rehang a piece of clothing you decided not to wear?
What will you time yourself doing today? Let us know how long it took you to do this task in the comments. 🙂
